The Rotaract of kampala kibuli in partnership with millitary barracks, Rotary club of kibuli, Rotaract club of Makindye west, Rotaract club of Makindye, Rotaract club of Makindye and Rotaract club of Lubowa organised a clean up and blood donation in kibuli market zone.The main objective of this project was to support the community that we adopted as we focus on the seven areas of rotary.In addition to reduce on the rate of disease spreading in kibuli community due to poor hygiene within the community.The project was mainstreamed on NBS Television and it also appeared on New vision newspaper.

Community Needs, Project Impact and Sustainability
Community Assessment: How the project team learned about the community’s needs
Prior to the event,the organizing committee conducted site visit to kibuli community to determine the proper needs of the community.one of them the area needed thorough clean up especially in the trenches which were full of clogged waters, plastic bags , organic wastes and this was a breeding place for the mosquitoes and other parasite.The organizing committee and the leaders of the kibuli community agreed on the date and the preparations started right away.
Project Impact: How the project will help the community after the project ends
Over 30 trenches were cleaned and emptied the clogged waters hence destroying the breeding places of the mosquitoes and parasites.Hygiene awareness where people were taught how to manage waste and how to dispose them and how to destroy the breeding places of the mosquitoes.The event fostered collaboration and community engagement among the Rotaract clubs ,the military and the community creating a positive impact and good relationship.
Sustainability: How the benefits of the project will continue afterward
The kampala city council Authority gave out trash cans where the people in the community should dispose their waste . They also will be collecting the waste after every 2 weeks for disposal.The Military through their boss Brigadier Bainomugisha William promised to be cleaning the area every quarter of the year.we also gave out brooms,sacks,hoes ,spades to the community leaders to be used during clean ups.
