The Rotary Club of Lubowa implements a broad array of community-centered projects across its seven global focus areas, tailored to meet urgent local needs in health, education, environment and youth empowerment:
Environmental Conservation & Biodiversity
#PlantYourBalance Tree-Planting Campaign: Monthly tree-planting drives, including the district launch of over 300 trees at Kiwamirembe Catholic Church, contributing to a wider Rotary goal of 50,000 trees this year and 100,000 through partnership with the National Forestry Authority
“Beyond The Tree Planting” (BTTP): Engages Interactors at Grace and Atlas High Schools in seed-hunting and nursery bed management to sustain a 25,000-sapling school-based nursery
Maternal & Child Health (MCH)
Bunapongo Maternity Ward Project (Mbale): Mobilizing resources—including a US $45,000 Global Grant to construct and equip a new maternity block at Bunapongo Health Centre III, with integrated malaria prevention support targeting expectant mothers and children under six
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)
Solar-Powered Water System in Suam: Delivering clean water to nearly 4,800 residents through a Global Grant-funded solar pump installation, improving hygiene and reducing water-borne diseases
Education & Literacy
St. Kizito Ssukka Primary School (Kasanje): Construction of a 23,000 L water tank, gender-specific toilets, and a three-classroom multipurpose block, enhancing sanitation and learning spaces for one of the poorest local schools
Disease Prevention & Control
Polio Eradication: Doubling club contributions to Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign.
Malaria Impact Grant: Funding community malaria control efforts in Bukasakya–Bungokho, focusing on prevention and treatment for mothers and young children
Youth Empowerment & Waste Management
Rotaract & Interact Partnerships: Collaborative skills-development and leadership training with local youth clubs and Mild May Institute of Health Sciences
“Mviringo” Biomass Briquette Project: In partnership with Mirembe Vocational Institute, trains youths in Zana, Bunamwaya and other urban areas to convert organic waste into clean-burning energy briquettes, reducing pollution and deforestation
Inclusive Livelihoods
Mukisa Demonstration Farm: Co-sponsored training centre with the Mukisa Foundation, empowering families especially children with disabilities with modern farming skills and inclusive community development

Members are expected to make their best effort to attend club meetings and participate in the club events, activities, committees, service work and project planning. They must pay annual dues to the Club. The Club encourages members to aspire to club leadership or committee roles.

If you’re interested in joining the Rotary Club of Lubowa, submit the Inquire Form, and the club will be in touch with you. A person being considered for membership is invited to attend one or more club meetings to learn more about Rotary and the club. The candidate’s name will be submitted to the club's membership committee for recommendation and Board of Directors for approval. At that point, the prospective member will be inducted into the Club. Please note that membership in a Rotary club is by invitation.
A prospective member must be a person of good character with a good business, professional, or community reputation and also be one of the following:
- A current or former professional, proprietor, executive, manager, or community leader
- Committed to service with a record of personal involvement
- A Rotary Foundation alumnus
Rotary International is an association of Rotary clubs worldwide. It’s made up of more than 35,000 Rotary clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas. The members of these autonomous clubs are called Rotarians, and they form a global network of 1.2 million business and professional leaders, all volunteering their time and talents to serve their communities and the world. Individual Rotary clubs, in turn, belong to the global association called Rotary International.
