Detailed description
The Rotary Club of Lubowa approached the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) to support Mildmay Hospital to expand their bed capacity overstretched by the soaring numbers of Covid19 patients in the second wave of the pandemic. DPF donated 20 hospital beds, 20 oxygen cylinders, 20 hospital mattresses, and pillows worth Ugx 46,945,000/= (Forty-six million nine hundred fourth five Uganda shillings only). Led by President Letitia Nakimbugwe, PHF, the Rotary Club of Lubowa in turn donated 20 branded blankets, 20 pairs of bedsheets and 20 pillow covers to increase admission capacity of the hospital and expand the institution’s capacity to save lives

Community Assessment: How the project team learned about the community’s needs
The Mildmay hospital Director of Medical Services Dr. Yvonne Karamagi approached the Rotary of Club Lubowa and shared the urgent need for support from the club on the overwhelming number of COVID19 cases, yet the hospital faced a shortage of hospital beds and oxygen that are essential during hospitalization and care of Covid19 patients.

The Hospital will generate funds through hospitalization charges to maintain the equipment and replace supplies donated.
